Description

Built in 1915 as a private residence, Clover Park community house was purchased in 1976 by the council to operate as a community house. Community Builders New Zealand Trust operate Clover Park on behalf of Auckland Council. A space that is proud to offer a place of meeting for local people to use and its doors are always open to new events, activities or groups.

    In December 1957 the house and farmland was sold to Harry Montague and Ida Israel. They named this room after Margo Klippel-Israel in recognition of her work at the University of Auckland.

    The farm name had been changed to the Phoenix Farm because of the phoenix palm trees lining the driveway from the Boundary Road entrance – now the Manukau Velodrome. The name was chosen in reflection of the phoenix palm trees.

    On 1 November 1995 His Worship the Mayor, Sir Barry Curtis opened the new extension to the house called the Tutakina Room (meaning ‘meeting room’).
