Opened in 1958 by Governor General Viscount Cobham, the hall was built as a Second World War memorial.
In 1980 the central pillar of the Pukekohe First World War memorial gate was relocated from Roulston Park to the main hall entrance. This means that civic Anzac Day services can be held on one site.
